Instructors at the College of Medicine at the University of Basrah obtained a patent entitled: Preparation of a new Iraqi and international medium IQBASMED VTM to save patient samples for the Corona virus Covid_19 from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control.
Where, for the first time globally, a new medium with unique characteristics was prepared and used to preserve samples taken from the mouth, pharynx and nose of a patient infected with the Corona virus Covid_19 for the purpose of transporting and diagnosing them using globally approved molecular methods. This medium is used for the first time in these studies and it is Iraqi in idea and originality.
