The Information and Communication Technology Center at the University of Basrah has taken the first steps towards joining the national classification of Iraqi academic institutions.
The Director of the Center, the instructor Keyan Abdul Aziz Mutlaq, said, "We made a tour that included all the branches that run the university's websites to closely follow up in a field view the management of these sites in the university's colleges and centers, and we stood on the obstacles facing the administrative and technical staff of the websites and suggested alternatives and solutions to them to overcome difficulties in order to raise the level of those sites in preparation for joining the classification.”
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has soon launched a project to ensure the quality of Iraqi universities under the name (National Classification), which provides great opportunities for universities and scientific departments to diagnose and strengthen strengths and identify weaknesses in institutional performance to avoid them, which means developing an adequate plan to improve performance and raise the scientific level, as well as the competition between local universities.
The new national classification includes many and varied criteria and indicators that deal with most aspects of the educational process in any university, distributed over several axes, some of which are specific to scientific departments and include standards related to scientific research such as quality improvement, program accreditation, faculty members, infrastructure and university performance, as well as scientific activities held in those departments such as conferences, seminars, workshops and panel discussion, and other indicators and standards for the university in general, which include the axis of scientific activity, capacity building, the financial and administrative axis and infrastructure axis.
