A scientific study at the College of Science at the University of Basrah, prepared by the research team consisting of Dr. Majeed Baaqoub Al-Luaibi, Anwar Taleb Abdul Wahed, Dr. Shaker Abdul-Salem Al-Jadaan, and Dr. Attar Fadel, examined the organic compounds of chalcogen.
The study, which was published in the Egyption Journal of Chemistry, classified within Scopus containers, showed the preparation of two series of organic chalcogen compounds.
The study included the preparation of iodo derivatives of selenides and cyclic tellurides and the study of the thermal stability of organic selenides at 300oC.
The results of the study concluded that the thermogram is a phase transition point at a temperature ranging from 120-150 oC, which indicates that these compounds may act as liquid crystals. All compounds were diagnosed by careful analysis of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen elements CHN, UV-Visible, FT-IR in addition to 1H-NMR.
