The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdul Sahib, chaired a meeting in Baghdad of representatives of member states of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
The meeting parties, including representatives of the diplomatic missions of Britain, Canada, Australia, Finland, South Korea, the Netherlands and Japan, as well as the director and a number of members of the National Monitoring Authority, discussed the topics that will be included in the Conference on the Use of Chemical Weapons by Member States, which will be held in The Hague on the twenty-ninth of November.
During the meeting, the Minister of Higher Education affirmed Iraq's support and commitment to international partnerships that reduce the risks of using prohibited weapons, and the Iraqi government and its specialized technical institutions keenness to cooperate with the international community, expressing support for participation and contribution to achieving peace.
Representatives of Member States welcomed the visions and proposals presented by the Minister of Higher Education regarding the importance of capacity-building for countries, intensifying the awareness aspect in combating the use of chemical weapons, and formulating scientific and educational programs to confront these dangers.
