The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basra organized a scientific trip to the (Standardization and Quality Control Center and the Artificial Insemination Center).
The trip aimed to introduce students to the concept of quality control, to learn about the mechanism of work in the center and how to conduct laboratory tests such as measuring proteins and carbohydrates, measuring moisture and ash, in addition to measuring toxicity found in feed such as aflatoxin and other mycotoxins, and giving a detailed report on the tested materials on the extent of its suitability for human or animal consumption.
The director of the center, Dr. Muhammad Al-Ali, explained how to examine foodstuffs, especially feed entering Basra ports, such as Umm Qasr port and Safwan border port. The center’s members also showed the work of the devices in the center and the accuracy of the results, in addition to shortening the time period in analyzing the results.
