The College of Sciences, University of Basrah, organized a scientific lecture on the histopathological effects of alloxan and its risks on human life.
The lecture, which was presented by Dr. Sattar Aboud Fares, an instructor at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Dhi Qar, aims to clarify the effect of alloxan on beta cells in the human pancreas and its relationship to diabetes.
The lecture included an explanation of the role of alloxan in causing diabetes and the extent of its seriousness while eating white flour in Iraq, and an explanation of the dangers of the chemicals with which white flour is treated and their effects on the islets of Langerhans in the human pancreas.
The lecture called to stay away from flour treated with the toxic alloxan, which leads to damage in the human pancreas, especially the beta cells responsible for secreting the enzyme insulin, as well as to stay away from flour treated with minor substances that turn it from brown to white, which leads to diabetes.
