The University of Basrah celebrated the fifty-fifth anniversary of its founding, and the ceremony was held in the College of Science, with a large academic and official presence.
The ceremony included a presentation of the graduates from the College of Science, followed by a tribute to the distinguished teacher and employee. A delegation from the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine honored the President of the University for his efforts in supporting the University Husseini Spring Program.
Then the president of the university opened a number of specialized laboratories and visited the Ramadan corner in the College of Science and then started planting the first palm out of 100 palm trees that will be planted at the University of Basrah.
The ceremony was concluded by honoring the university president and council members for the football, basketball and chess sports teams that won the first places on Iraqi universities, then honoring some creative students of people of determination, and finally showing the short film Red in bold.
The President of Basrah University, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, said in his speech that our university is the largest incubator in Basra Governorate for science, scholars and educated people, and we are here to celebrate the fifty-fifth anniversary of its founding.
Shaheen added, Basrah University has gone through critical challenges during various stages and presented strategic plans to address these challenges, the latest of which was the Corona pandemic, as it provided great, important and exceptional services not only to our governorate, but also included most of the governorates through the development of the carrier and several transmission and detection of the virus, in addition to our university's rise in international rankings and its first place, the increase in the number of patents and the number of research published in Scopus and Clarivate containers.
