The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah organized a scientific trip for the students of the second year to Hamdan Sewage Plant Project - the fifth stage in Basra Governorate under the supervision of Dr. Ihab Sabri Saleh, the trip included introducing the students to the project, its absorptive capacities, and the importance of the project to Basra Governorate and its residents, as well as introducing the students to the cadres responsible for the project.
The project works to purify heavy water that is harmful to the environment and transform it into environmentally harmless water.
The visit aims to provide the students with scientific information and information about the mechanism of the project's work with the biological treatment system by bacteria, as well as the concrete design of the structural foundations.
The working mechanism of the central mixer used on the site and how the engineer deals with it was also explained.
The efforts of the supervising professor and the efforts of the engineers of the project resulted in developing the students’ horizons on how to deal with large projects, as well as benefiting from the scientific information that was given and how to deal with engineering problems that appear while working on the site and providing students with a purposeful national view.
