The Continuing Education and Development Center at the University of Basrah organized a lecture on metacognitive learning and education.
The lecture aims to provide new teachers with skills to learn and teach metacognitive skills.
The lecture presented by Dr. Refaat Abdullah Jassim included an introduction on the nature and benefits of thinking, and metacognitive thinking skills for both the teacher and the student, and then to show some of the skills and metacognitive applications that the teacher can use personally to develop his mental skill, as well as teach them to his students to enhance their learning process and improve their academic achievement, and their later performance in the labor market.
In the end, the recommendation was to generalize the use of metacognitive skills in the process of teaching students, as well as in preparing teachers, considering that these skills have become necessary in the modern educational process, as proven by many studies and research around the world.
