The College of Education for Women at the University of Basrah organized a lecture entitled "The Information Revolution and its Impact on Iraqi Society after 2003".
The lecture presented by Dr. Noor Mahmoud Al-Abdali, the instructor at the College of Education Ibn Rushd at the University of Baghdad, dealt with the informatics revolution, which is the science that studies organized technical methods that process information to obtain data, and processing methods depend on theories and techniques related to storage, distribution and retrieval of information.
She added that the beginning of the information revolution dates back to the early eighties of the last century, when the computer appeared and its use became widespread, and scientists worked on developing various technologies that make it possible for a person to perform many operations at the same time, which saves him time and effort.
She pointed out that the Iraqi society has suffered from many crises and challenges, including the economic blockade that made Iraq far from this technological development witnessed by the countries of the world. After 2003, Iraq entered a new phase with the appearance of the information revolution entering it without prior introduction and confusion in the use of this technology, which made society live in a state of loss that was reflected in children, their behaviors, adolescents, their aspirations and even their ideas, tendencies and directions.
The lecture recommended the necessity of reconsidering education curricula, and working to monitor and warn children, approach them and direct them to make better use of electronic devices in order to prepare a conscious and aware generation that works to build our country.
