The University of Basrah, in cooperation with the British Council, launched a computer-based (IELTS) test center located in the Multimedia Center at the College of Arts.
Dr. Haider Abdul-Hassan Aboud, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at Basrah University, said that preparations for this event, which is the first of its kind in southern Iraq, took more than a year, with the participation of a specialized work team formed for this purpose.
It is worth mentioning that the (IELTS) test is the most famous test in the world to measure English language proficiency and is approved in more than (900) countries, as it includes the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. The possibility of taking the (IELTS) exam for the residents of southern Iraq is among the services provided by the University of Basrah to the community, and the university can benefit from it with regard to its academic reputation in international rankings.
