A scientific research team of scientists from the Palm Research Center at the University of Basrah managed to produce tissue seedlings - ex vivo - of the desired Barhi variety on dates.
About this scientific achievement, the director of the center, Dr. Khairallah Musa Awad, said, "The research team at the center was able to produce seedlings of the flowering inflorescences of the Barhi variety in good numbers as preliminary experiments for the applied protocol. The seedlings were transferred to the acclimation stage in preparation for planting them in the field during the coming months."
