A PhD thesis at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Basrah discussed fluid modernity and its representations in contemporary Iraqi art.
The thesis presented by the researcher (Osama Nouri Nasser) included the interventions of liquid modernity in contemporary Iraqi plastic art after it was presented by the contemporary sociologist Bauman - liquid modernity in that it is one of the data that is manifested to understand the phenomena we live in, it is a project that feeds new concepts in the products of contemporary thought.
The thesis showed the interactions of fluid modernity with the cultural, political and social fields of Iraqi art after the occupation, thus highlighting the features of the research in the products of contemporary Iraqi artists.
The thesis aims to expose the philosophical project presented by Bauman and search for fluid modernity and its representations in contemporary Iraqi art.
The thesis concluded that modernity works to dissolve perceptions and levels of cultural and aesthetic production, as it seeks to find aesthetic and cultural transformations in the structure of the aesthetic text in an effort to define the collection of contradictions and mutual outlets between them.
