The University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Sab’a Sanabel Charitable Society, has opened a cafeteria and a restaurant in the largest gathering of students in its internal departments, located in the Garmat Ali colleges complex.
On the importance of the project, the Director of the Department of Internal Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Ilah Abdul-Hussein Saheen, said, “Student housing is one of the important departments at Basrah University, which is supervised by the Department of Supervision and Evaluation in the Ministry, which annually accommodates between 3,500-4,000 students who come to Basra from different governorates in order to complete the requirements of their study. Due to our keenness on the need to provide a comfortable atmosphere for the student to be fully devoted to study, excellence and creativity, we have opened this project, which offers all oriental foods and fast food at very low prices compared to the local market, as well as the cleanliness of the place and the cleanliness of the food and healthy cooking and food presentation.
Saheen added - there was an urgent need to open such a project directly supervised by the university and it was a quick response from the president of the university, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, after receiving numerous complaints from the students of the departments regarding meals coming from the areas close to them (delivery) about the type of food and its expensive prices, not to mention its lack of health conditions. After opening this cafeteria, food has now become available and at low prices - and is even provided to poor students for free. In the coming days, we will start establishing the projects of Bread Bakery and Iraqi Bread Bakery to complete the means to provide comfort to students and end their suffering in going to the district’s markets for shopping.
