During a meeting with the French General Consul to Mosul, Mr. Jean-Christophe Auger and his accompanying delegation, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abdul Sahib reviewed that the Iraqi academic institutions have cooperation relations with French universities according to the signed agreement between the two countries and the scientific programs that include the fields of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dr. Abdul Sahib said that the Universities of Mosul, Northern Technology, Nineveh, Telafer and Al-Hamdaniya in Nineveh Governorate are opening to joint the cooperation and cultural exchange with French universities and academic institutions in various fields.
His Excellency expressed the Iraqi Universities’ readiness on exchanging scholarships, visiting professors and exchanging students to study the common interest.
Dr. Abdul Sahib continued by saying that the priorities of cooperation between the two sides require focusing on rehabilitating laboratories, factories and scientific workshops in the Universities that have been sabotaged and damaged by terrorists of ISIS, as well as developing sustainable coordination aspects regarding health and medical care centers.
For his side, Mr. Auger expressed his appreciation and happiness for the meeting and the good hospitality.
Mr. Auger said that the French side is working on developing memoranda of understanding between Iraqi universities and their French counterparts and updating academic cooperation programs in the medical, engineering, social and psychological fields in the near future.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting was attended by the Director-General of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, Dr. Hazim Baqir Tahir.
