The College of Dentistry at the University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture on anti-cancer compounds derived from marine diatoms.
The lecture showed the role of the active substances isolated from diatoms in the treatment of cancer cells and the use of silica isolated from diatoms as a natural source for the preparation of nanoparticles and its use as an effective conductor for anti-cancer drugs and reducing the side effects of chemical drugs.
The lecture aims to identify the new substances isolated from diatoms and their role in killing cancer cells in order to reduce the side effects associated with known chemical drugs.
