The College of Dentistry at the University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture on the negative effects of fumes and gases emitted from oil wells on health and the environment, delivered by Dr. Hazem Saad Jabbar.
The lecture showed the most important respiratory diseases that affect humans due to gases emitted from oil refineries, such as asthma, diarrhea, chest pain, suffocation, skin irritation, leukemia, and cancer.
The lecture explained the danger of gases, vapors, odors and small particles that remain suspended in the air as a result of burning gas to the environment, in addition to the oil pollution of water with crude oil and petroleum products, which causes great damage to fish wealth and marine organisms in general.
The lecture aims to present scientific studies that will reduce environmental pollution as a result of the processes associated with oil extraction and refining.
