A PhD thesis, entitled (isolation and identification of some chemical compounds from endophytes and their immunosuppressive effect), was discussed at the College of Science at the University of Basrah.
The researcher Maha Hani Tawfiq's thesis included isolating and diagnosing endophytic 7 fungi, studying the chemical properties of secondary metabolites, and studying their inhibitory activity against some microorganisms.
The results of the study concluded that the isolation had anti-microbial activity, and pure xanthones and silver nanoparticles were obtained. After testing the toxicological effectiveness against red blood cells, it was found that the compounds and silver nanoparticles did not possess any toxicity against red blood cells. The compounds and silver particles also showed anti-oxidation activity.
