Instructors at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah, Dr. Murtada Jabbar, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf and Dr. Noha Jassim, published a joint scientific research, entitled (The Effect of Primary Additions on Behavior hot dip galvanizing), in the Journal of Cogent Engineering issued by the British publishing house (Taylor and Francis) and classified within Scopus (Q2).
The research dealt with the use of the hot-dip galvanizing technique, which is a common technique to prevent corrosion in steel structures.
The results of the research reached to improve the corrosion resistance of galvanized steel by adding elements to the zinc coating, which are aluminum, bismuth, lead, tin and antimony, whose effect on the coating was reached by studying the characteristics of microhardness, thickness, adhesion and microstructure, which led to the cohesion of the coating and reduce the corrosion rate of steel.
