The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Basrah built an artistic monument of Quran inside the college halls in response to the insult and contempt of religions that were issued by the Iraqi refugee in Sweden, Silwan Momica, by burning a copy of the Noble Qur’an many times.
The Dean of the College, Salma Abdel-Baqi Mahmoud, said, "A monument of the Quran has been erected in the college campus and in the middle of its yard in order to sense the noble moral and spiritual value mixed with the sanctity of this great book, which represents a constitution for our Islamic youth who are aware of the promising future of this nation and what it carries of values and an integrated system for a life project on various levels, coinciding with the fierce attacks that targeted the most sacred sanctities of Muslims by individuals and groups that exploit irresponsible and unfair freedom of expression and opinion in practicing their exclusionary intellectual extremism, insulting divine religions, and spreading hostile tendencies towards religious freedoms”.
