The Continuing Education and Development Center at the University of Basrah organized a training and development course in the field of journalism and audio-visual and print media.
The course, which was lectured by the journalist Muhammad Al-Asadi, aimed to introduce the trainees to developments in the science of journalism and renewable media, and to inject professional skills to develop the work of the trainees working in the media offices of the university and the participating government institutions.
The course included theoretical and practical lessons in mastering the skills of print, audio, and video press interviews, identifying mistakes by broadcasters, reporters, and program presenters, identifying the most appropriate template for writing news in different media outlets, and news follow-ups, with distinction and explanation of the most famous journalistic templates, journalistic schools for editing news, and sources for obtaining media outlets. Media outlets provide reliable information and an explanation of the principles, values and ethics of the journalism profession and the position of the Iraqi legislator on protecting those principles in the applicable press laws, most notably the Journalists Protection Law.
