On the occasion of Iraq ranking 37th globally, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honored Iraqi universities that achieved competitive results in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. This recognition took place during a celebration organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to mark Iraq's achievement in being ranked 37th globally.
In his speech, Dr. Al-Aboudi emphasized that this accomplishment was unprecedented in the history of Iraqi higher education institutions, which are characterized by their heritage, uniqueness, leadership, and scientific presence in the region. He pointed out that this success could not have been achieved without the collective efforts of everyone in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, its universities, and its dedicated academic staff who are committed to strengthening and enhancing academic reputation at the local, regional, and global levels.
Dr. Al-Aboudi further stated that this achievement carries a shared responsibility, starting from the minister, university presidents, deans, heads of departments, and faculty members, to enhance the effectiveness of the teaching and learning environment and develop academic programs. This is seen as the necessary path to achieving competitive advantage and improving the quality of scientific production.
The Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, expressed his gratitude to university administrations, teaching faculties, researchers, and students who contributed to this tangible achievement, which represents a clear result and evidence of the rising academic quality in teaching and scientific research.
During the event, Dr. Haider Abdul Zahid, the Deputy Minister for Research Affairs, presented a comprehensive overview of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, its criteria, and indicators, which cover aspects of the educational environment, research environment, quality of scientific research, international vision, and industry income.
