Basra University organizes a scientific symposium on diabetes
The Pharmacy Branch, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Educational and Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basra, organized a scientific symposium

The symposium aimed to raise public awareness and early detection of diabetes by following up on some of the symptoms that the individual suffers from in order to treat and recover.
The symposium included lectures, the first of which was by Dr. Haider Iyad Al-Idrissi, a precise specialist in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism, which included the journey of diabetes treatments throughout history from the beginning of the emergence of diabetes until today, the importance of the methods used to regulate diabetes, and the most prominent treatments used to reduce diabetes complications. As for pharmacist Duaa Qasim Sobeih, she explained in her lecture the most important risks and complications of diabetes in the long and short term if the irregular blood sugar level is neglected, as well as when these complications begin to appear, while clarifying the misconceptions of diabetes and how to deal with and correct them.
In his lecture, Dr. Gibran Khalil Hassan explained the importance of diagnosis and knowing what to monitor for early detection of diabetes, while explaining the modern mechanisms used to determine the regular blood sugar level. Dr. Abdul-Ilah Abdul-Hussein explained in detail the balanced diet, the foods that should be eaten, and the proteins, indicating the importance of knowing the types of oils to avoid the bad types, what is the diet followed for diabetes, and the food required to reduce diabetes and its complications.
The symposium recommended the necessity of conducting periodic tests for cumulative and random blood sugar, as well as paying attention to therapeutic nutrition to avoid the disease and its complications, in addition to using modern software to monitor food, as well as examining diabetic feet on a regular basis to avoid the occurrence of complications.
