University of Basra organizes an architectural dialogue session entitled Modernity and Originality in Iraqi Architecture
On the sidelines of the Gerso Expo for Investment and Construction - Basra 2023, which was held at the International Fairgrounds in Basra, the College of Engineering at the University of Basra organized an architectural dialogue session in which an elite group of academics and architects from various Iraqi universities participated, in addition to Iraqi architects from outside Iraq. The session was entitled “Modernity.” “And originality in Iraqi architecture.”
Which dealt with an important topic related to the identity of Iraqi architecture, its originality, the challenge of modernity and international architecture, and their impact on traditional Iraqi architecture.
The session was attended by a large number of people interested in architecture, architects, and students of the Department of Architecture, and the audience played a major role in enriching the dialogue through the interventions, questions, and inquiries they addressed, as there was a clear and significant interaction between the interlocutors and the audience.
The aim of holding the session is to shed light on the challenges faced by local architecture due to the effects of global architecture on local identity.
