The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra organized an interactive scientific lecture entitled Saliva protein, delivered jointly by a group of second-year students and under the supervision of Dr. Ali Taha Yassin.
The lecture explained the function of saliva in the mouth, which includes moisturizing the mouth and preventing dehydration, which in turn facilitates the processes of chewing and swallowing food, as well as the protection that saliva provides against microorganisms because it contains antibodies to these organisms and contains enzymes that work to regulate the acid function of the mouth and thus reduce The rate of tooth decay resulting from the dissolution of the protective enamel layer of the teeth.
The interactive lectures aim to encourage students to search scientific sources and extract information in addition to the scientific material prescribed by the Ministry.
