The College of Medicine at Basrah University sponsored a scientific symposium on updates and developments in the treatment of diabetes in children
The symposium was sponsored by the University of Basrah - College of Medicine
During the symposium, important topics were discussed, the most important of which was the need to spread health awareness to avoid serious complications of the disease, such as sudden hypoglycemia, loss of consciousness, and high blood sugar, which leads to increased blood acidity, which is called diabetic ketoacidosis.
Dr. Dhafer Tawfiq, a specialist in pediatric endocrinology at the Basrah College of Medicine, also discussed modern treatment methods for the disease.
The College of Medicine is looking forward to establishing a chronic diseases unit that will care for students afflicted with them, as well as spreading health awareness through students in important social places.
