University of Basrah holds a training course in cooperation with the World Food Program on the topic of plant cultivation in the aquaponic project
The College of Agriculture at University of Basrah organized a training course in cooperation with the World Food Program on the subject of plant cultivation within the aquaponics project that was established this year in the College of Agriculture and with support from the World Food Program.
The course included theoretical lectures on the project delivered by specialists in the field of aquaculture, as well as field visits to the project. It is worth noting that the training included 100 male and female farmers over the course of three days from the governorates of Nasiriyah and Basrah. Professor Dr. Majid Makki Taher, Chairman of the Administrative and Technical Committee of the project, added that agriculture This technology is one of the effective solutions to the problem of severe water scarcity that our dear country is experiencing, noting that using this technology consumes much less water than agricultural techniques using spraying or dripping, since the system is considered closed and there is no water lost except for what is evaporated.
