The Scientific Cooperation Unit organizes a symposium on living languages
The Scientific Cooperation Unit and Civil Society Organizations at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Iraq University College and the Continuing Education Center at the University of Basra, organized a scientific symposium on living languages.
The director of the unit, Dr. Ahmed Mani’ Hoshan, stated that the symposium included a lecture presented by Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Ugaili, during which he highlighted the importance of living languages in providing communication between the peoples of the world, including the English language, which has become the world’s language today.
Houshan added that the symposium discussed the importance of mastering foreign languages and translation to deepen the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between the world’s civilizations and to know their cultures and way of life.
Hoshan pointed out that the symposium witnessed extensive discussions from students and attendees to come up with practical recommendations to revitalize the translation movement from other languages, as well as writing in living languages by researchers who master those languages in addition to their mother tongue, Arabic.
