The publication of a book by an elite group of Basra University teachers on climate change in Iraq A book entitled The Encyclopedia of Climate Change in Iraq and Some of its Environmental Impacts was published by the teachers at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra, Dr. Kazem Abdel-Wahab Al-Asadi, Dr. Bushra Ramadan Yassin, and the teacher Zahraa Karim Jassim. The book, which included 853 pages divided into eight chapters, dealt with the problem of drought, desertification, and the decrease in the amount of fresh water, and its impact on the economic, health, and social lives of its residents, as well as its political problems with neighboring countries, which led to the migration of large numbers. The importance of the book is that it identifies these problems with precision and shows the extent to which Iraq is affected by these climate changes in order to develop appropriate solutions to them.
