Iraq, International Universities in Joint Study
A joint research team at the University of Basrah and a number of international universities conducted a study on Development of the electric organ in embryos and larvae of the knifefish, Brachyhypopomus gauderio.
The joint study, which published in Developmental Biology Journal Published by Elsevier it is listed in SCOPUS, reviewed the development of electrical organs in some aquatic organisms and the genes responsible for the emergence of these organs and the possibility of benefiting from them for patients suffering from cases of electrical cardiomyopathy by replacing the use of an industrial battery with a biological battery.
It is worth mentioning that the joint research team was the faculty member in the College of Agriculture, Basrah University, Iraq Dr. Elham Jabbar Jalil, researchers from the University of Virginia, United States, and researchers from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.
