The College of Science at University of Basrah, as part of the visiting professor program hosted from Tabuk University in KSA, organized a lecture on the impact of COVID-19 on the environment.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Karima Muhammad Abdullah Al-Absi, aimed to identify the positive and negative effects of COVID-19 on the environment and to give recommendations for working together to restore the environment.
The lecture included clarification of the impact of the pandemic on human life and the global economy, and the positive and negative change in environmental behavior around the world that improved the environment, including air quality, water quality, aquatic life, and reduced noise pollution.
The lecture called for promoting environmental sustainability, saving the earth from pollution, applying some possible strategies for environmental sustainability, such as using public transportation, using renewable energy, treating wastewater, recycling and reusing waste, and changing our behavior in daily life.
