The Diwan Affairs Department mobilized its specialized cadres to restore the electrical current to the Basrah and Arab Gulf Studies Center and some other facilities in Bab Al-Zubair colleges complex, after the transmission line was damaged at a late time.
The director of the department, Eng. Hamida Maktouf Muhammad, said that the maintenance cadres and other supporting cadres, in addition to the cooperation of the governorate's electricity departments, completed the work of reconnecting the main cable after a technical problem that led to the separation of some sites from the national system.
The work started by locating the problem late at night, and then performing on-site maintenance within safety and security precautions.
Earlier, the department directed all electrical cadres to be constantly present in all university sites and faculties until the exams are completed.
During summer, Basrah Governorate witnesses an increase in electrical loads, which creates pressure on the system and that requires staying on standby.
